Solutions International provides this ╥free distribution╙ version of the Glue¬ Viewer. You are welcome to use it to display, print or copy from Glue format files. There is no charge for its use. It runs on every Mac from the 128K on up.
The Viewer is an application which can display and print Glue files. Glue files can be created by any application, simply by selecting Solutions╒ ImageSaver¬ or SuperImageSaver¬ from the Chooser and using the application╒s Print command. The resulting file contains all the Quick Draw information that would normally be printed, complete with formatting, fonts, etc. This file can then be given to anyone with a Viewer. (They don╒t need the original application!)
To use the Viewer, just double-click on its icon and open a Glue format file with the Open command on the File menu. Or, just double-click on the Glue document╒s icon and, as long as the Mac can find a copy of the Viewer on one of its disks, the application will open automatically. Once open, you can view or print the document, or use the selection marquee to select and copy a portion or all of the Glue document.
People use Glue for such diverse purposes as distributing newletters made with desktop publishing programs, exchanging letters without worrying about who has what word processor, transmitting spreadsheets to people who don╒t have Excel¬, posting shareware documentation on a bulletin board, or displaying sample output from an application they╒re reviewing.
If you own the commercial product Glue or SuperGlue¬, you can create documents with almost any Mac application, ╥print╙ the documents to disk with the ImageSaver or SuperImageSaver, and send them to any other Mac user, or post them on a bulletin board. The users to whom you send Glue documents need the Viewer to open them, but they don╒t need the creating application. If you are not sure the recipient has a copy of the Viewer, feel free to send this one along or point out that it can be downloaded from Genie or CompuServe.
If you do not have a copy of Glue, you are still free to use and redistribute this Viewer to display, print, or even copy from Glue files you receive from other users, or download from bulletin boards. You need the ImageSaver or SuperImageSaver to create Glue documents. You can purchase SuperGlue from Mac dealers everywhere or directly from Solutions International (see below). You can also purchase the ImageSaver by surcharged download from SOFTEX on CompuServe.
If you need to do more with Glue documents than the Viewer allows, or want to access Glue documents via a desk accessory, the SuperViewer¬ portion of SuperGlue is what you need. In addition to all the features of the Viewer, the SuperViewer DA or application can change the fonts in a Glue document to match those you have installed on your System for better printing, or you can extract the ASCII text from a Glue document for editing in your favorite word processor. The SuperViewer also provides a visual table-of-contents for multi-page Glue format documents, with each page displayed as a graphic miniature of its contents.
You may give a copy of this Viewer to anyone ╤ a present you can give your friends. The only restrictions are that the code in the Viewer remains the copyrighted property of Solutions, Inc. and may not be disassembled, sold, or included in other applications without permission or license from Solutions, Inc. The ImageSaver, SuperImageSaver, SuperViewer, ViewerDA and SuperViewerDA remain commercial products and may not be shared.
